At the Canadian Women in Communications networking evening, Look et affaire (Look and Business), Foundation CEO Maryse Perreault addressed association members to raise their awareness of the cause.

The Phillips Lounge was the scene for the press conference held by Montreal’s Salon du livre. Following the theme of this year’s book fair—Le livre, une affaire de famille (Books, a family affair)—Maryse Perreault officially inaugurated the 11th edition of The Gift of Reading® by giving a speech rallying people to the literacy cause.

At a regional symposium organized by the Island of Montreal’s three French-language school boards—CSDM, Marguerite-Bourgeoys and Pointe-de-l’île—Nicolas Dedek and Kristel Tremblay from the Referral Department presented the communication strategies that have been implemented under the Support program for civic and intercultural relations (PARCI) to reach immigrant women with little schooling.

As part of “Fais des choix pour toi!” (Make choices for yourself) —a day organized by the Commission scolaire de Montréal’s Centre des ressources éducatives et pédagogiques adult education centre—the Referral Department team presented the Adult Learnline to organizations in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie district and young people aged 16–35 wishing to know more about the different training opportunities available to them.

For the second year in a row, Foundation CEO, Maryse Perreault met with students at La Voie high school in Montreal to raise their awareness of the joy of reading and its important role in realizing their plans for the future.

Nicolas Dedek, Co-ordinator, Referral Department, addressed 150 immigrant parents at École Saint-Luc, in Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough, to tell them about the Foundation’s help lines and existing French-language training resources.

Speaking at a breakfast meeting on the theme of Families and Reading, organized by the Regroupement inter-organismes pour une politique familiale au Québec (inter-agency group for a family policy in Quebec), Maryse Perreault emphasized the importance of conveying the joy of reading and its impact on the future.

Maryse Perreault, was welcomed by La Voie high school in Montreal, where she went to raise students' awareness of the joy of reading and its importance in fulfilling their future plans.

Maryse Perreault, gave a talk at Cégep de Saint-Jérôme to students in Social Work Technology, to raise their awareness of illiteracy, an issue they will be faced with in their future jobs.

At the press conference held by Montreal’s Salon du livre book fair, Maryse Perreault was invited to present an address concerning the 9th edition of The Gift of Reading®, which was being launched at the same time.

To mark International Literacy Day, Maryse Perreault gave a talk concerning the urgent need for action on illiteracy, to the media and literacy partners present. Ms Perreault took the opportunity to unveil the Foundation’s new public service campaign, created free of charge by the bleublancrouge agency.

Nicolas Dedek, Co-ordinator, Referral and Organization Support, represented the Foundation at the National Consultations on Health Literacy orchestrated by the Expert Panel on Health Literacy of the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) at Montreal’s Hôtel du Fort.

At the invitation of the Canadian Policy Research Networks and the Adult Learning Knowledge Centre of the Canadian Council on Learning, Nicolas Dedek, Co-ordinator, Referral and Organization Support, took part in the round table entitled Towards an Effective Adult Learning System at the McGill University Faculty Club.
