Generosity was in the air at the 34th edition of Montreal's Salon du livre book fair. From November 16 to 21, 2011, some 2,300 new books and $1,150 were collected in aid of The Gift of Reading from all across the fair.
Each year, the Foundation invites visitors small and not-so-small to have a story read to them by an invited guest. On the occasion of our 13th season at Montreal's book fair, Frédéric Barbusci, Frédéric Bélanger, Salomé Corbo, Christiane Duchesne, Yan England, Geneviève Lefebvre, Élaine Turgeon and Marie Turgeon shared some magic reading moments in our cozy bedroom setting. Through this activity, the Foundation was able to raise the awareness of visitors to Montreal's Salon du livre of the fact that thousands of Quebec children are still not having stories read to them.
The Foundation wishes to pay tribute to the commitment and devotion of its 50 or so volunteers, without whom none of this would have been possible. Between them, they put in 263 hours' work in six days!

Our warm thanks also go to the management and board of Montreal's Salon du livre, who took up the cause of The Gift of Reading from the very beginning.
