The Gift of Reading
Book Distribution Events
Each year, during the period of The Gift of Reading, the Foundation goes into Quebec schools in underprivileged neighbourhoods to distribute brand new books in person to the children benefiting from the project.
To end the 12th edition of The Gift of Reading on a high note, the Foundation team joined actress and project spokesperson, Marie Turgeon on May 3, 2011 on a visit to École Jean-Nicolet, in Montréal-Nord, to share some very special moments with pupils in Grades 5 and 6. Following an exciting reading by Marie Turgeon, the young people discovered their books with joy, and wrote short thank-you notes to the donors.
The children were not alone in being immersed in the magical world of books! Their parents were also captivated by a reading of their very own, theatrically presented by Les mots s'animent.
A distribution activity was also held at École Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs in Verdun, on May 19, 2011.
