Raise-a-Reader: Foundation participates for seventh year
A co-operative financial institution at the heart of its community
The CanWest Global Foundation’s national initiative, the annual Raise-a-Reader/Lire, c’est grandir fundraising campaign, organized in Montreal by The Gazette, in conjunction with daily newspaper Le Devoir, took place on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. |

All the Foundation’s employees became impromptu hawkers, just like the event’s dynamic organizers, along with firefighters, police officers, Armed Forces personnel, athletes, students and beneficiaries, offering free copies of that day’s The Gazette and Le Devoir to raise funds for The Gift of Reading®, among other recipients!
Two jewels of the Quebec economy, Mouvement des caisses Desjardins and the Fondation J. Armand Bombardier, clearly understand the major challenges posed by under-education, and are proud to support the cause of literacy by each granting the Foundation $100,000 through its Major Giving Program.
The Literacy Foundation warmly thanks them for their outstanding support, which will enable it to continue its work to develop action to support literacy training and illiterate individuals.

The Caisse populaire Desjardins d’Hochelaga-Maisonneuve has reiterated its commitment to the cause in the knowledge that numerous children benefit from The Gift of Reading® in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district. On behalf of all the children in your community, thank you!
